These bathrooms are clean, fresh, calming- not what I would use to describe our bathroom. We have tile out the wazzo in a faux finish, combined with a mossy green paint color, and it's all kinds of horrible. The wall tile is a darkish brown, and the floor tiles are a different dark brown, it makes for a very dark space. Here's the full monty: (its not pretty)
Tile mania in there.
The green (looks more like the color in the first image) against the tile, and of course mix matched towels.
A random shower curtain that is just not cute.
To freshen up the space, I wanted to paint a light color, something to brighten it up. I was initially thinking a very, very, light grey, almost white- something that would create a little contrast against the white molding. When I hit Home Depot, there was a pretty light yellow on the 'opps' rack for $7. (You know how I fall for the oops rack.) I asked the guy to add more white to the yellow to lighten it up as much as possible before purchasing. I had an inkling this yellow was a bad idea, but didn't listen to my gut.
Oh yeah it's baddd! (Painters tape is up.) Also please note the classy tea towel window curtain, held up with an aloe bottle, stylin'.
Bam, you're hit with a cross between Velveeta and a children's ward, not quite the winning combo.
Also, while you're in there, make sure to take a picture of your one good hair day out the of the month.
Once the paint went up I knew it was badddd. I continued painting, maybe it was the fumes, I thought maybe I could add stripes, like this, to make it cute. After a little break, I was snapped back to reality- I've got to go back for a different color!
