Garden Progress.

2014's first update.
Little gem lettuce. Exactly one week difference.
Yukon gold potatoes. Just under 4 weeks difference, so tall the stalks are leaning over.
Cherry tomatoes, snap peas, edamame, radishes, pumpkins and spinach. 10 days difference.
Beans, cabbage, onions, squash, and melon. 10 days difference.

During the long winter I really enjoyed looking back at last year's garden progress posts so I'm trying to keep up with this years garden.  For it only being the first days of June the progress is really blowing my mind.  I'm using the 'vegetable factory' growing method, which is why there is so much in each bed.  The method focuses a lot on growing up and keeping the soil strong for productive plants.  There is also a perception issue from this angle, the beds are 6x2 feet in actuality.

I'm venturing out this year with my extra space and trying new things.  I've only tried lettuce once and it wasn't much of a success, so this year I'm happy about my red lettuce, green lettuce, and kale already really taking off.  Potatoes and onions are also new and are both really having success.  I even slipped some onions in the front landscape and they are doing great.  Berries are something else I've tried for the first time, although these typically take a year or two to start producing, so we'll wait those out.

All in all I'm feeling really relaxed when I'm gardening this year.  Due to all the rain, compost tea, and early heat its really coming along.
