Garden Progress.

As per my 'new years goals' and 'summer to dos', I am sticking with really making my garden produce this year. So far my large garden bed started here, with tomatoes, peppers, and basil.
Then went to this, with some marigolds and cabbage added.
And then we're here, with lettuces, more peppers, more basil, and more tomatoes.  Its actually a bit more booming now since this was taken a couple of days ago.
We also have a cucumber, zucchini, beets, pepper, and marigolds bed. The cucumbers are beginning to climb and the zucchinis have blooms already.  This is next to our composter and rain water barrel- so far this summer I haven't had to use anything except for the rain water for the two garden beds and various potted herbs.
I've been picking up different edibles at the farmers market and expanding my garden with different varieties of veggies every week (which I really need to stop since there is no room left!)
I also planted some transplanted hostas (thanks to my MIL) to spruce up the empty space next to the zucchini box. The thing to the right of them is one of my solar lights- which I love!  They change color and are so bright lining the walkway at night, you can even see them down the street.
We also have a planter box with lots of peppermint, lavender and marigolds. So nice to just reach out the backdoor and grab some mint. Also potted is some cilantro since that is a high value item in our kitchen.
This summer I'm really enjoying working in the garden every night pruning, weeding, and watering.  Having my garden start to really boom-however small it may be- is pushing me to keep up with the work.  I really like the idea that I could be producing enough to fill our dinner plates this summer, along with some extras to can for the winter.
