I just read a really interesting little quip about answering the question 'what do you do?' -rather than answering with your job title, answer with fun things you like to do. Such a different type of conversation, switching from 'I'm in marketing' to 'I backyard garden, and bike ride as much as possible.' Would be something to try at different parties this summer.
