Garden Progress: 1 month, July- August.
July
August
This looks crazy messy, after the squirrels dined on a bizillion tomatoes we decided to fence in the bed with chicken wire and wild animal netting.  So far we've saved a lot of tomatoes from being stolen, success!  We have lots more peppers coming in with the change to cooler weather, and have been using our lettuce for dinners- it's so good!

I decided to stake up the zucchinis because they were getting a bit of rot on the bottom leaves from sitting on top of each other.  Although they look in worse shape, they are now producing and things popping up over night.
Behind the air conditioner in another part of our yard I planted over flow of tomatoes and some sort of melon (?) that was unmarked in my greenhouse.  Using the 'let your weeds work for you' method is really working, these guys are producing like mad.
Also, the mint and lavender box is overflowing.  I've been using tons of mint and will most likely replant the lavender this weekend to get more sun in a more permanent spot in the ground.
Another handful of beans picked this week, and the cabbage is huge about the size of a smaller cantaloupe- much larger than it appears here.  Thinking we'll probably pick it this weekend or next.

Zucchini babies, these will be ready in just a few days, plus one I harvested yesterday!
I've got all my fall garden seeds; lettuces, kale, squash, beets, and radish, and am taking a 'cold weather gardening' class this weekend.  Hopefully starting these guys indoors then clearing the beds out is a success, since this will be my first fall garden.
