Garden Update.

Tuesday, July 9, 2013

Now that its officially summer the garden is starting to produce.
Our bean plants haven't gotten large and bushy like I had hoped, but they have produced a handful or two of green beans so far.
This is a carmen pepper, and is actually quite large in person- about 6 inches.  It should turn red soon and is said to be an 'all American winner' in sweet pepper flavor.  Behind you can see how large the cabbage is getting, in front are my lettuce greens- not large enough to pick yet.
This cucumber popped up out of nowhere, its also quite large- about 7 or 8 inches.  We have a few smaller ones as well that came out of no where, probably spurred on by all the rain we've had lately.

We've also had a few of the purple tomatoes, two giant green peppers- going in tonights dinner recipe, and tons of herbs, like basil, mint and cilantro.  Hopefully we're just scratching the surface on harvesting and soon we'll be swimming in produce.
